UMCOR Cleaning Kit Challenge | Sep 30
UMCOR’s (United Methodist Committee on Relief) depot is empty and hurricane season is here. Our goal is to raise $1500 before the end of September to assemble 20 cleaning kits. Additional funds raised will go to more kits or UMCOR National Disaster Relief. Make your donation to Herndon UMC and designate “UMCOR kits” by any of the usual routes–online or by check– or give directly at bit.ly/UMCORKitChallenge. (Note: 2.2% in fees are deducted from online gifts.)
Fall Women’s Retreat | Oct 14-15
LAST CHANCE TO REGISTER, 10/2 — Herndon’s United Women in Faith invites all Herndon UMC women to an overnight retreat centered on how God heals our brokenness. The retreat will be held 10/14-10/15 at the Claggett Center in Adamstown, MD. Learn more and register at bit.ly/fallwomensretreat2022
Backpack Foods for Dranesville ES | Extended
Our goal is to fill 200 bags. The youth will be packing 100 bags for the first delivery, and everyone is invited to help on 10/02 at 4pm with the second 100 . We will meet in the big kitchen.

The Closet of Greater Herndon

Youth Singers Wanted!
If you sing in your school choir, acapella group, or just love singing in the shower, you’re invited to be a part of a small youth vocal ensemble that will share a song in worship at the 10am service on 10/16. This will be a low-key, low-time commitment pop-up group with only a few 30 minute rehearsals happening right after youth group on 10/2 and 10/9 from 12:30 – 1pm. Sunday School Returns!
There are 2 NEW opportunities: The Good News Class starts this Sunday led by Mark Lemmons and Dave Young. Class is 9:00-9:45am and will be using the study Genesis to Revelation, starting with Genesis. After morning worship join Pastor Scott who is leading a class from 11:15 – noon, focusing on growing and deepening your faith, starting with the study Pathfinders.

KIDS CLUB
This year, KIDS Age 3 – Grade 6 will follow the life and teachings of Jesus, and support their Bible learning with hands-on favorites like games, object lessons, experiments, crafts, and more! KIDS will be invited up in worship for a Children’s Message, and afterward, transition to Room 103-104 with their adult leaders until the end of 10am Worship.
